Garlic Butter Steaks Recipe

Butter is put on steak for a few reasons.

  • Appearance. The butter gives the steaks a beautiful sheen that makes for a nice presentation to your friends and guests.
  • Flavor. The butter, garlic, and rosemary gives the steaks a more depth of flavor. The pine lemon flavors of the rosemary works well with the richness of the butter, with hints of garlic flavor in the background.

How to prepare melted garlic butter?

  • Place a medium size cast iron skillet on the grill grates.
  • Once warm place 2 cloves of garlic butter and two teaspoons of olive oil in the skillet.
  • After 2 minutes of cooking add the dried rosemary and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Add a 1/2 stick of salted butter and turn off the heat of the grill. You don’t want to butter to burn.
  • Let the butter reduce for two minutes and take the garlic butter off the grill.

Tips for success when grilling garlic butter steaks.

  • Have a clean grill. Dirty grill ruins any grilling recipe.
  • Do not heat your cast iron skillet too much. The olive oil will help the butter from burning, however you don’t want a blazing pan when you put in the butter. Burnt butter will ruin your recipe.

Ingredients

  • 3 10 ounce bone in strip steaks
  • Kosher Salt
  • For garlic butter
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 stick salted butter

Instructions

Start with clean grill grates. No one wants dirty steaks.

Bring our gas grill to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Notes

A variety of steaks can be used for this recipe if you don't like strip steaks. Filet and Ribeye may be a little too fatty to add butter to the steak. When in season fresh rosemary can be subsituted for dried rosemary.
