Braising Cabbage in the slow cooker

First step early in the day is taking out your slow cooker. Your going to need to cook down the cabbage for this recipe.

  • Shred one small to medium size red cabbage and place in the slow cooker.
  • Add sugar, german vinegar, water and salt.
  • Turn slow cooker on low, close the lid, and leave it alone for 3 hours.

Grilling Pork Tenderloin

  • Bring your gas grill up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Place salted pork tenderloin on the grill grates over direct heat. Grill for ten minutes.
  • With a pair of grill tongs, flip the tenderloin and grill for another ten minutes with the grill lid closed.
  • Flip the tenderloin one more time on a side that does not have any grill marks.

How long should you grill pork tenderloin?

Grilling a pork tenderloin on medium low direct heat should take approximately 20 minutes. After 15 minutes of grilling check the internal temperature. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture the internal temperature of pork should be 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once the pork hits 140 degrees take off the grill and let it sit. It will continue to rise in temperature as it rests for a few minutes.

Tips for a successful pork and cabbage recipe.

  • When grilling pork tenderloin start with a clean grill.
  • Heat the grill first before you put the pork tenderloin on the grill grates.
  • Put the pork on the grill when it’s at room temperature. Don’t take it out of the refrigerator and immediately put it on the grill.
  • When braising the cabbage in the slow cooker, leave the lid on and don’t take it off until the cabbage is done cooking.

Ingredients

  • 2 one pound pork tenderloins
  • 1 small red cabbage
  • 1/4 cup german vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • salt for tenderloin

Instructions

Shred the red cabbage.

Place in slow cooker along with brown sugar, water, vinegar, and salt.

Close lid and cook for 3 hours.

After 3 hours stir and turn off heat until you are ready to serve.

For Grilling Pork Tenderloin.

Salt all sides of room temperature pork tenderloins.
